The Hot Hess Mess - Extended Edition

Even MORE goings on are going on the week after the weekend of insanity!!!!

Monday
Black Cat is hosting Blitzen Trapper. I like these guys alot, not least of which because they are always reinventing their sound, keeping their fans on their toes. Unfortunately, this show is sold out, but look on Craigslist for options.

Tuesday
Lucinda Williams is playing at 9:30 Club. I saw her last year at Rams Head and she does a good show. Worth seeing if you got $50 to spare. She has added a second show the following night, but that means you would miss out on...

Wednesday
The Whigs will be at the Black Cat this night. They are a pretty good trio that recently toured with Kings of Leon and We Are Scientists. To tour with that type of company only speaks volumes about how good these guys are. I have never seen them live, but their albums exude a powerful sound that would give me hopes of a great show from these guys.

Also, if you are in Virginia, be sure to head over to the Birchmere to check out Justin Townes Earle. An amazing songwriter and musician. He will be travelling down here just one day after his new album, Midnight at the Movies hits the streets.

Thursday
The Black Cat will be taken over by crazy swaying kids to behold the awesome live hijinks of The Black Lips. I've seen these guys twice last year, once at the Cat and once as an opening act for The Raconteurs. The show at the Cat was awesome, lots of energy, crazy fans and the like. When they opened for the Raconteurs, a certain element of their music didn't translate well to the bigger venue, so alot of their raw rock and roll power was lost. But at the Cat? Heck yeah, I'd see them!!!

Seriously, I wish I got paid to find kick ass shows and tell the world about them.
