The Hot Hess Mess - Weekend Shenanigans

Looks like it's gonna be an exciting, jam-packed weekend full of all sorts of musical goings on. My interests will bring me to these shows:

Thursday
DC9 is hosting a trio of great bands, not the least of which is Witch, the new project featuring Dinosaur Jr. guru J. Mascis. But instead of playing guitar and singing half mumbled lyrics, he has actually taken up his first, as in main, instrument, drums for this project. Altpress.com had some kind words about the stoner rock foursome: "On Paralyzed, Witch combine the occasional pass at Pentagram's classic reverb ring with massive doses of bleary stoned-drone, moaning a few half-hearted shout-outs to a handful of vintage rock obscurities along the way."

The band I am most stoked to see is Earthless, an instrumental psych-rock trio from San Diego that features drummer Mario Rubalcaba of Rocket From The Crypt & Hot Snakes fame. I am a huge RFTC and Hot Snakes fan, in addition to all the side projects and off shoots that those bands have created over the years.
Also, Black Plastic Bag did a Q&A session with these guys. Wish I could have been there for it.

Finally, opening the entire set is Ostinato, a band I know absolutely nothing about.

Friday
Heading over to the Rock and Roll Hotel to check out Tapes n' Tapes. I have two extra tix for this show too.

Saturday
Back to DC9 for their 5th Anniversary Party!!! Not only am I a sucker for venue's anniversary parties (remember getting awesome with Rattler and Ced Hughes?) But the line up for DC9's anniversary party looks amazing:
Jukebox the Ghost (I saw these guys at Ft. Reno summer of 2008; they have catchy music and put on a really good show)
J-Roddy Walston and The Business (this is an AMAZING band from B-more, they are insanely fun, and their music is really good, you are GUARANTEED to be a fan after you hear them)
With special guests: DJ Marc-Alan Gray, Liberation Dance Party DJs
Doors @ 9:00pm
And even more goodness happens later in the evening:
Cover $5 after midnight
HAPPY HOUR
Midnight - 3:00am

So if you can make it out to any of these, I'd HIGHLY suggest it. It's gonna be one hell of a weekend. Luckily, I have no responsibilities after 7pm Thursday, so I'll be taking ALL of it in.
